Anyone know if you can set up the JDBC connections normally setup in Glassfish config, into an XML file for access via JPA?

I'm looking for something like this to work with an EJB app I'm working on and would like to take the JDBC setup out of the Glassfish config and put it into a XML within the app.
You can do this in Spring with the applicationContext.xml file, is there an equivilent in EJB which can then be accessed via the persistence.xml
<jta-data-source>jdbc/xyz</jta-data-source> tag?
