Hi! There is a function called tracing and logging support in Java:

-Djavaplugin.trace=true
-Djavaplugin.logging=true

What's the difference between tracing and logging?

Thanks

Hi Another question:

I have an exception in a Java desktop application and I want to log it in a text file.

I have enabled tracing and logging in the Java Control Panel inside the Windows' control panel. Question is: Where can I find the log files? Which directory is it in?

I tried to find it inside C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin but the log files are not there.

Can anyone give a some pointers? Thanks.

Some basic info on the tracing and logging settings that it sounds like you are referring to
http://download.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/tracing_logging.html

The link contains info on where to find the logs file(s).

For your Java SE application, assuming it is executing under the JVM that is configurable via the Windows control panel (not necessarily true), you should be able to find the logs from the above info.
