I am new to struts. Can any body let me know how to validate a text field using validation frame work. I need to validate for empty and alpha numaric characters. What are all the steps i need to do

Here is a fairly good link giving you the basics of how to start using the validator:

You can find others on Google.

I'd also recommend that you study the validation example that comes with the struts download.
