Hi Everyone,

Even I'm planning to take OCJP 6. I need some help in this regard may be Kushan can throw some light on this as he has appeared in the exam very recently.
I want to know whether there was any change in the exam pattern/style from SCJP?? Or a change in the syllabus since it has been owned by Oracle. Is the book by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates enough to prepare for this exam? Please guide me in this regard. Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Diya,

Q1. there was any change in the exam pattern/style from SCJP??

No any difference 60 questions 58% pass rate.

Q2. change in the syllabus since it has been owned by Oracle?
Syllabus has not changed.
I didn't get any questions from serialization. I got 10 to 12 drag and drop questions. I nothing got outside the syllabus.

Q3. Is the book by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates enough to prepare for this exam?
This book is very nice. If you read one or two chapters, you will get to know that it is very friendly book. It gives lot of tips to score in the exam. Real exam is not difficult than its sample questions. But don't take it easy. try to pass the mock exams given with the book. If you can pass them, yes pass them(>65). you can definitely score over 85% at the exam, believe me

Welcome any quarry

Wish you all the best for the exam.

Thank you,
Kushan

Kushan Athukorala Conrats!

I am preparing for OCJP too.

Please can you give me brief understanding that after achieving this certification, will it help me as a Oracle Application Developer? Because I am thinking to pursue my career in Oracle as an Oracle Developer.

Thank you.

Are you talking about the K&B book? Then you need to cover the complete book for the exam.

You may want to check our SCJP-FAQ section for details/resources about the exam.

Without knowing about them hard to comment...

I didn't say it. I'm just telling you what this tiny ad said.
