Guys,

I just connected my external HDD to my machine running Ubuntu, but nowhere I could find it so that I could access the files. How do I mount it to view the contents inside?

My external USB drives always show up in the Places menu near the bottom of the menu. I helps is you rename the device, makes the device easier to spot.

I wanted to mount a external HDD on my Ubuntu guest (VMBox) but I could not make it happen. Later I tried to share a folder between my Windows host and Ubuntu guest (Windoes 7 host and a Ubuntu 9.10 guest). Later I tried to mount the shared folder as it is metioned in the VMBox documentation, but I could not.

Following is what I did:

Any reason as to why I get this error? I already have the Guest Additions installed.

Reinstalling the Guest Additions did not help. Stuck with this issue since yesterday.

Finally made this to work. There was a name mismatch between the shared folder in windows and what I typed in the mount command (myshare)

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
