I am working for a small company as a software engineer (java ee and related technologies), have got 2 years 2 months of experience, and my technological forte is spring, struts, hibernate and core java (included everything, didn't I ?)
I got an offer from an MNC, which I can say was my dream company to work for (when I got my first job with the current employer).
And yes, I am from India, so might be my question can be answered best by the Indian fellow ranchers (no offense to other ranchers ).
Considering my current CTC is 2.7 lac (a small company) and the offered one is 4.4 lac, how do you guys see the growth I am offered?
I won't say that I am disappointed or happy either, but the thing is I went through a very rigorous process of selection (2 written + 3 interviews), and I feel that I could have been offered more.
There were some other guys as well, but they were all from other MNCs, I assume their packages (respective current employer) to be higher than my package.
So, is it a fair conclusion that they might have been offered more than what I am offered ?
I may be missing something, but condensed to the essentials the question sounds like "I assume that other people -about whose experience and work history I know just about nothing- may have been offered more than I was; is that fair?".
Given that those other folks may be more or less experienced, and may have better or worse qualifications, and may have better or worse soft skills etc., I really see no basis for answering the question in a meaningful way.
No two employees ever bring exactly the same set of skills and experience to a company, so such comparisons are never an exact science. The important questions are: Is the compensation fair considering what you're bringing to the table? and Are you happy to work for what's being offered? Note that the "being offered" part is about intangibles as well: workplace atmosphere, growth opportunities -technically, personally, career-wise-, and other non-quantifiable factors. Also note that neither of the two questions is primarily about what other people in the company are being paid.

No, I don't have any. But, to be honest, I ain't even thinking of approaching any other company. I tried to negotiate, but they refused saying there can not be any further discussion regarding salary, as the current one is the best they can offer.
Work of course will be interesting for me at least, 'cause I will now get into so called "domain" specific development.
This MNC only work in domain, and I don't have any domain experience, all I did was a pure web development. The interviewer did ask me in the end that do you have any domain experience, and I could not say "yes" for an answer.
