Hi all,

I just want to know the need for reference variable in Java with an example?
I googled for it, but was bit confused with the references i got.

Can anyone of you please explain it bit detailed way through an example.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

You might want to check out the Oracle tutorials. Have you just started Java?

Your question should be answered in great detail in the first four lessons: http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/java/index.html

A "reference type" is any type which is not a "primitive". That means: everything except boolean, byte, char, double, float, int, long , and short.
