How an action class read values sent from jsp

How does an action class read values sent from a jsp page ? Is it through a request.getAttribute ?
How do I set this value in the jsp page to be read by the action class.

It's usually done through the ActionForm. An ActionForm is a bean class that the Struts framework will automatically populate using the request parameters. Any decent Struts tutorial will explain how to use ActionForms.
