posting a question on coderanch

Hi,
what does <google>text</google> mean while posting a question on coderanch? does it help google to search the topic?? question would be in coderach database ,so google can not scam this database i think, so what does this means actually?

Readers don't have to type in the words manually at google and can click on the link instead?!

Often it does. Google can't access our database, but it can access the forum posts - which come from the database.
