Hei togheter
i set up today a windows 2008 r2 server with different tomcat-instances. Further i use an apache httpd server for redirect from port 80 to this xx80 ports.

Now my question : is it possible to solve this problem. that i could redirect any ports with apache. Means that i could for example set up one tomcat for port 8080 then redirect for example to this instance.
And further for example a complete own tomcat with port 9080 from to this tomcat.

I think that should be possible. So i could run different portal-instances of liferay completly itself...without making any virtual portal instances.

Is it possible, and if yes, which way i must configure this situation? ith virtual server, hosts-file and mod-jk...or on which way??

Means: -> Tomcat-instance1 -> hosts-file -> localhost:8080 -> Tomcat-instance2 -> hosts-file -> localhost:8180 -> Tomcat-instance3 -> hosts-file -> localhost:8280

Would be this the right way? and if yes, how and which tool i need. i dont understand this situation.

Thanks for all help.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
