I have a JSF application running on Websphere Application Server. I need to access this application and wrap it round a portlet such that it can be deployed on a Portal Server. How can this be achieved?

I do not want to mess around with the application on the Application Server. Just an elegant mechanism to access that application inside of a Portal Server so as to use its other features such as Authentication, Personlaization etc. I don't want to use web clipping.

You're more likely to want to wrap a portlet around an application than an application around a portlet. I don't know an easy way to do that without using a "viewport" portlet that provides a portlet-framed windowpane, and that is, I think, "web clipping".

JSF does support the ability to write JSR-288 compliant portlets in JSF.
