This week, we're delighted to have Martin Logan, Eric Merritt, and Richard Carlsson helping to answer questions about the new book Erlang and OTP in Action. See here and here for sample chapters.

The promotion starts Tuesday, November 16th 2010 and will end on Friday, October 19th 2010.

We'll be selecting four random posters in this forum to win a free copy of the book provided by the publisher, Manning.

Please see the Book Promotion page to ensure your best chances at winning!

Hi to all the authors. I am very keen on asking some doubts regarding Erlang's different aspects in real world settings. Welcome to javaranch

Having read the book from end to end several times over the course of it's development I can heartily recommend Richard, Eric and Martin's Erlang and OTP in Action. If you take the time to fully master this book you will be in an excellent position to build scalable and fault-tolerant applications with Erlang/OTP.

Congratulations on the print release guys. I can't wait to get my copy. The ebook is great, but I like the tactility and markability of a book.

I have downloaded the chapters. I have no idea what Erlang is! I will try to find it out.
And who don't want to win a free copy?

Mashruf,

You probably want to get up to speed on Erlang before you dive into our book. Its geared more towards folks that have already read one of the other introductory books out there. Joe Armstrong's book is an excellent choice. That said, if you just want to dive right in pay a lot of attention to chapter 2.
