I am currently a Java Developer Trainee in a start up level company in bangalore for a period of six months...I'm B.E. professional in Electronics & Communication Engineering..Since I was not from IT academic,I was not upto most in Java. So,for my next carrer move,I need to have SCJP certification or my experience is enough..

Well, the answer is... it is completely up to you.

Remember, the certification is not the real goal. The goal is to get up to speed, and good at, using Java -- which in turn, helps you do your job better, or maybe get you a better job. For some, a mini-goal like getting the certification, can give incentive to study and to do stuff, so it may be a good. So, if you are that type of person, who need incentive to study, then consider getting the cert.
