Hello All....

Finally this is my day!
After a veryyyy longgg preparation(about 7 months - every night I study, day time I have to go to work), was finally able to crack OCPJP with 95%!
Thanks to JavaRanch! & not to forget Campbell Ritchie, Rob Prime,Henry Wong.. were extremely helpful & I'm extremely impressed with their way of explaining things! learnt a lot from them! + Dieter Quickfend,Jim Hoglund,Mike Simmons,Shanky Sohar,Abhimaran Kugathasan - Thanks guys. Thanks to all.

This is how I prepared for the exam..
* Read Java2 Complete Reference 1.4(this was the only book I had when starting my preaprations, so had to start with it..which finally turned to be an advantage. I came know lot about 1.4 Vs 1.6 later)
* Joined JavaRanch
* Read Head First Java(since it is a beginners book, did a very fast reading - finished it in 2 weeks)
* After learning the very basics of Java, I became somewhat much active in JavaRanch..First started out with asking questions, then asking doubts in others questions, then finally..was able to answer many questions. Everything was gradual.
* Read SCJP6-Kathy Sierra & BertBates book once completely..Scored above average in all the self tests. Confidence level was rising..
* Then, for 10 days took lots of mock tests.. Exam Lab was wonderful!! Thanks a million, Devaka Cooray!!! In ExamLab, I managed to make a 65-75 in all the tests(except one where I falied - 52)..It is really right to be called as a Learning tool rather than a Testing tool - I learnt much here, than in the other books!
* Finally felt, I was ready to take a shot..

To all those preparing,
..never never miss ExamLab! After finishing this one, you'll feel the real exam very very lighter..
that winning feeling in you after you finish the exam...thats a real good feeling..
Regarding the real exam,
I feel, I got lot of Generics questions.
No wait/notify/notifyAll questions at all.
Happy Preparations..Do well..All the best.

Really .. really happy I finished OCPJP!!! Once again thanks to all...all of you!

hey vinoth.
congratulations. i suppose you have done a lot of hardwork to get your certification.

i am too preparing for SCJP.
finished headfirst java. and now started SCJP book by kathy sierra and bert bates. i am running with reading of about one unit per day including self tests. devoting great time in understanding things. after reading one unit one can feel of having nowledge about that thing. but the syllabus is really very vast. do not know what will be when i will be completing the book. ya confidence has been raised to a extent. but i want to increase it more. i have completed 3 units till now. and have to give my exam till 20th december.

it will be a pleasure if you provide advise for further steps of preparation or anyone want to.
thanks

Rohit,
Complete the SCJP6-Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates book. Since you say you have to take the test on 20th Dec, try to make the studying part as soon as possible. Do a planning so that you have atleast a complete week to take the mock tests. Take as much as tests possible ( https://coderanch.com/how-to/java/ScjpMockTests ) + all ExamLab tests. All these must shoot up your confidence, I guess. You shall learn more in the mock tests than in the text.
All the best for your test!
