I am working on a project where I am using Smooks to do an XML to XML conversion. I am considering using either FreeMarker or XSLT with Smooks to do it. Does anyone know of any arguments one way or the other as to which I should use? I'm leaning towards XSLT just because it seems like it's more established and less likely to go away. But Smooks specifically seems to recommend FreeMarker.

I don't know what Smooks is or does -it's certainly not a widely used framework- but using a library that knows nothing about XML (like FreeMarker) seems a recipe for trouble. XSLT at least would be guaranteed to produce well-formed XML.

Yeah, I'll probably go with XSLT. Thanks
