Good study book for OCPJWSD

Hi All,

I'm planning on starting the Web Services certification and was wondering what is a good book to use.
It's a pity that there's no 'Head First Web Services' book as there a great series.

Would people recommend the book: 'J2EE Web Services - Richard Monsol Haefel' ?

Thanks, Ro.

Ronan, read this.. This link as all the necessary information for your jump start. Yes, RMH book is certainly a good place to start and you may also want to take a look at Java webservices up and running, along with Ivan's and Mikilai's notes. All this information is available in the link I provided.

All the best.

I also highly recommend Mark Hansen's SOA Using Java Web Services . Although it is based on JEE 5, I bet it will still help tremendously with studying for the upcoming JEE6 version of the exam.

thanks, in related to the RMH book (as it seems to be java 1.4) and the exam is JEE5, are there things
that aren't covered in the book that would appear on the exam?. also i was trying to get Ivan's notes but
when i clicked on the link on the SCWD links page - it popped up a message saying the file was corrupt, any advise?

thanks, Ro

Hi!
The latest version of my study notes can be found on Slideshare:
http://www.slideshare.net/krizsan/scdjws-5-study-notes-3085287
The version on JavaRanch is no longer updated.
If you have problems downloading then temporarily disabling antivirus software has helped some people.
Best wishes!

Yes, RMH is based on J2EE1.4, but not every objective is changed in version 5.0. Most of the changes you will find are related to JAX-RPC vs JAX-WS, SOAP 1.1 vs SOAP 1.2 etc. But there were reports where questions are being asked on SOAP 1.1 also... So reading this book is recommended, though not mandated. Ivan's notes and Mikilai's notes cover the objectives related version 5.0.
