Anyone see Tron the new Disney movie? Thoughts? Comparisons to the original?

How can it compare to the original? The original was made on a Foonley. I'm sure this new one was not even made on a 36-bit machine, let alone a direct descendant of the beloved PDP-10. The new one was probably done on GPUs from some video card or something else modern.

I hear that the visuals are amazing, but I haven't seen it yet. I've also heard that the plot isn't much, but then, the plot on the original was not much.

I guess I was thinking about storyline/entertainment value.

Just saw it. I was entertained. The visuals were amazing and the story was ok. I have to admit the effects kept me entertained during some of the combat scenes.

The experience was a nice contrast to Avatar. And by that I mean the novelty has worn off for the theatre and they've toned down the # of previews. All were 3D previews. With Avatar they gave the usual # of regular previews and then did 3D ones so it felt like forever before the movie started.

Asked a few friends that saw the movie... Was it better than the original?

The answer was... YES.... but, I really need to see the original again. The original did *not* age well at all. Seeing it again will set the bar really low for this movie...

I saw it on Saturday. I was entertained too, the movie ended fast. I was kind of disappointed by the 3D. Maybe because there are not many backgrounds, it almost always dark. There was a preview of Pirates of Caribbean in 3D before the movie, and that looked impressive. I prefer the 3D scenes of Avatar too.

I'm a Daft Punk fan. I knew the movie score was not very Dafty, but it sounded good. Especially the scene in the club. I'm going to buy the soundtracks

All that said, I'd like to watch it again, just for the whole atmosphere.

It was pretty awesome. My only complaint was:

**SPOILER**

Needed to see more of Tron himself. He's the title character, for pete's sake!

**END SPOILER**

I'd like to have this and the original together in my DVD collection.
