Tomcat and MySQL on Ubuntu

hey everyone,

i just ordered my book on JSP and Serverlets... The book explains how to install and run tomcat and mysql on windows... but not with linux...

i tried installing the stuff with ubuntu... but it didn't work properly...

tomcat and jdk now work... i can access my server at localhost:8080

but mysql is not working with tomcat... i dont know how to create a db and do something in a db...
i have installed mysql, mysql query browser and mysql admin in ubuntu...

can anyone help me to run mysql with tomcat...

thnx.....

Installing MySQL server should be easy. Just visit the MySQL site and download the necessary files and install it as you would like any other software. Get SqurrilSQL client and access the MySQL server. It is actually pretty easy.

OP said he has MySql installed and working. But he doesn't know how to create a database.


That is done using
then to set the permissions, grants, etc. on the foo database. Then to create the tables.
