Converting IFile to ISelection

Can we convert org.eclipse.core.resources.IFile to org.eclipse.jface.viewers.ISelection.

My requirement is, whenever we've opening a file from tree viewer of navigator in eclipse, I need to customize that. while this process I need to convert file(IFile) to selection(ISelection). I've got the file through getEditorInput() method of IEditorInput. My code as,

IFile iFile = (IFile) getEditorInput().getAdapter(IFile.class);

Now I need to dump this file into ISelection... how about the possibility.?

Just now I've read one IBM tutorial regarding this... Here they've convert ISelection to IFile.. So now, how about the possibility of vice-versa?
