input displays just the first word

i'm retrieving data from database and want it to be displayed inside a text box
dont know why, but if the string i want displayed is "this String", it will only display: "this"

i know the code is fine because if i write it directly to the html page it writes the complete sentence

here's how i have it:

what am i doing wrong?

Start there and it will show you what you need to change on the serverside.

only about 20 characters fit inside the text box, i guess; i'd like to enlarge it, in order to be able to contain longer strings
