Severing that head and mounting it properly takes skills and tools, not to mention a ranch hand who is not particularly faint at heart to do the severing, so it may take a few days before you see the trophy in the hall of fame!

What has the first leg of the journey taught you (*lol* essay question to be answered in 500 words or less)?

And so you should swagger!

Hope to follow real soon!

By the way, I have booked my scjp for the 12th April, but don't tell anyone, as I have SO much to do!

I have all the assignments lined up for Marilyn & Pauline - I just seem to take 4 or 5 goes each time. It is so hard when I haven't done anything like it before - and I rely on searching the forums for ideas and then study the API's and then just try my best, submit it and wait and see what Marilyn says!!!

I am studying K&B book, working through assignments - and looking for Open source stuff, but haven't found anything yet.....oh! and my THIRD son will be 1 year old next Monday 26th......oh! and my wife still works nights as an Emergency Medical Technician (ambulance - if not sure), and I have to look after the three boys!......oh! I apparently also have a full time job!

But isn't that the fun thing about all of this? Everyone here gives up their time to help people like me and you who just enjoy the learning?

So, I thank everyone at javaranch for their help and support, and congratulate everyone who gets this all done!

Well done SAM, KATRINA.

But also thanks to Marilyn & Pauline as well!

SCJP? Why, you little...!!!

Don't you have to take the associate exam first?

Whoa, wait a sec here! You have written prototypes for all the assignments in the cattledrive?

I sometimes forge ahead for an assignment or two, but I seldom have much of a head start. Right now I am trying to wrap my head around some servlets concepts which I am determined to figure out before I hand in servlets-3. I refuse to not understand it!

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but per the Just Java book recommendation I've downloaded a ton of open source GUI code from the Limewire project at: www.limewire.org
I haven't gone through it mind you, just downloaded it.

Congrats! That is truly a blessing.

You don't need the associate exam to qualify for the SCJP exam. April 12 is coming up really soon though. Study hard, Nick.

Don't be shy about asking questions.

And ... Congratulations!

You know what? I booked the exam as something to focus on as it really makes me concentrate on what I need to do. Problem is.... I get a lot of the test questions wrong. The biggest problem I have, is with the layout of the code in the questions. We are so focused on style that anything nasty throws me out - I have found that I have to write out the code as it is expected here, and that helps.

Hopefully 3 hours will be enough - I think it will, but more than that, I hope that I can get enough into my old head in time Three weeks tomorrow.

Currently I do about 3 or 4 hours study a day (perhaps I am not so busy at work as I should be!) - I then strangely find myself dreaming about it as well (now that is worrying ).

Anyway - pass or fail I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all your support on this.

By the way, if Pete reads this I meant open source projects to work on, rather than getting code etc.

Nick
