Simple question: if I put applet (which eats bandwith and processor - a kind of site crawler ) into jsp,
I should hope that client machine is used for processing things that applet does, or not ?

Yes, the applet runs in the browser on the client. It doesn't make any difference whether it was downloaded from a plain HTML page or from a JSP.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
