say I have settings.txt as resource file, reading from it is easy


How to write back to that resource file ?

You can't. Resources can be located inside JAR files, or even on the web.

Doh, I'm living under impression of delphi where you could write code that actualy made executable change itself at runtime
--> so you could beside other stuff , save variable values into exe itself.
