Hi!

First of all, you should check the SCJP FAQ: http://www.coderanch.com/how-to/java/SCJP-FAQ
This will probably answer most of your questions.

I am currently preparing for the OCPJP/SCJP exam aswell. Taking the test January 18th.

I've read this book http://www.amazon.com/SCJP-Certified-Programmer-Java-310-065/dp/0071591060/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294754108&sr=8-1 which i recommend. I cant compare it to any other books though.
I know however that many people on this forum will vouch for this book aswell.

Also taking various free mock-exams along with the questions in the S&B book + the mock exams on the CD that comes with the book.

Best of luck to you!

Welcome to JavaRanch, madusudan.

You can go through prometric registration to find a list of prometric test centers in your area.

Note: Please UseRealWords instead of something like "plzzz", and UseTheForumNotEmail - I've removed your email address from your post.

Try to find a NIIT centre in your city which has vouchers about to expire in 5-6 months and selling them at Rs 3000-3500...
