Lohri and Pongal

It seems that Lohri and Pongal occur around the same time and are Winter Festivals celebrated in India.

Are any of you celebrating these? Would love to hear of your experiences.

So is Makar Sankrant.
Nothing surprising there, as these are based on the solar calendar.

What a lovely holiday - and it is all about attaining more knowledge, getting enlightened,

This certainly put a smile on my face.

Thank you all!!!

Well shoot, I came in here hoping to find an Indian version of Lena and Ole jokes. Oh, well, at least I learned something.

Sankranti sounds so much like Songkran, the Thai new year, that I went to Wikipedia and found that, yes, they are the same thing. (Though the Thai festival is in April for some reason.) It's a small world!

Compared to Jupiter sure, but I'm sure in this instance it's still figurative ;)

Happy Thai Pongal! (After a week )
I hired a bunch of ninjas. The fridge is empty, but I can't find them to tell them the mission.
