Hi

I have developed this simple/basic SWT application. The app has a few browse button to upload the input file and spits out an output file. With File/menu items
Just like how Javascripts/JQuery kind a gives cool/Sleek look to the plain old HTML pages, is there any thing like that for Java desktop SWT apps?

thanks in advance!

Hey Darshaun,

SWT was developed in part because other Java GUI lib's stuck out and did not blend in with the native operating system. SWT borrows native components from whatever platform you're running the application on so no matter what blends right into the platform.

Making the application look "sleek and cool" would mean breaking this "blending in" that SWT was designed to implement. Naturally you can change your applications to whatever you want them to look like by doing things like SWT.NO_TRIM and abusing Canvas or something of that nature however whoever uses your application will most likely be annoyed with it.

The primary reason I choose to develop my graphical applications with SWT is because its platform independent, and you can't pick out an SWT application and say "thats coded in Java using SWT" because it blends in, and thats what makes it cool.

if you want to add some animations or something "which I don't recommend unless you're using SWT for game development or something" you can create a GLCanvas and draw to it with lwjgl or something, SWT supports that by default.
