i have set right paths for tomcat_home and java_home after starting the startup script in cmd i point my browser to
http://localhost:8080/
and error comes no
tomcat
page is displayed

Why do people say things like "an error comes" and not give the details of the error message?
Tomcat generally manges to log server side errors.
To get the most out of errors sent to the browser, be sure you deactivate "friendly error messages"
