Suggestions for developing desktop application in java

hi All,
I want to develop a desktop application in java.
I am aware of Swings and i guess we need to use netbeans for that.
Netbeans generates its own set of code which ask for learning and acquiantance to teh IDE.

Can you suggest me any other IDE for swings.
Also apart from swings is there any other java technology in market to develop desktop application?

What's swings? If you are experienced in programming, you could use any IDE. Or write all the code by hand. I would suggest you use whichever IDE you are most familiar with, and happiest using. But there is no "need" to use NetBeans for anything.

It's called "Swing" not "swings".

NetBeans has a nice built-in GUI builder for Swing applications, but there are other GUI builders for other IDEs available as well.

Google has bought WindowBuilder Pro, which is a GUI builder for Eclipse, and made it available for free. You can make Swing, SWT and GWT applications with this.

hey thanks all , for the correction.
That was just a slang but yeah will make a practice to say it simply swing.

Now to the crux, Yeah Jesper thanks for your suggestion, am starting to look into his now.

No, not swing. Swing. It is case-sensitive, just like virtually everything else in Java™.
