Hi,

I am currently preparing for the SCWCD certification. Can anyone who passed this certification tell me how this certification would be comparing to SCJP? I am just not feeling confident enough to take the test yet. Also please share any helping tips.

Thanks.

Hi Shiny,

The SCWCD5 exam is somewhat easier than the SCJP5 or SCJP6 exam, but don't take it as being easy. You need to know a lot of details and it needs lot of practice.

If you want to be sure of passing: buy the Enthuware mock exams, do all of them and make sure you score around the 80%. If so, you will pass the real exam. It is absolutely worth the money.

Regards,
Frits

Thanks, Frits. I looked into that mock exam that you suggested. I would buy it today. One of my friends said SCWCD is easier than SCJP too. I wish I could say the same once I have passed it. Thanks again.

I did OCPJWCD 5 and passed. I referred Head First Servlet and JSP book and servlet specification to things get more clarified.I did all the questions at the end of every chapter and the set of questions at last in Head first book.Any how I believe questions are not much trickier like scjp. But you should have a very clear and a keen understanding of every thing in head first book.

Hi,

Its good to know that SCWCD is not trickier like SCJP. The chapters that I find difficult are the ones about tags. Hoping to pass it. I dont want to lose $300.
Thanks for sharing the tips. I am also following the Head First Servlets and Jsps book. Going to buy the enthuware mock exams too.

Thanks.

But don't take it as easy. You should have a good understanding in every concept. According to my opinion in Head first book custom tag development chapter is the most difficult chapter. If you have read and understood the book unitl "custom tag development - When even JSTL is not enough..." chapter you have completed most difficult part of the book. remaining chapters like Deployment,Security,Filters and Enterprise design patterns are much easier compared to others.

I totally agree with you. Custom tags is the most difficult chapter. First time, I skipped that chapter. Only 2 days back, I finished studying that chapter and it took about a week just to finish it. I wish I could understand it better while I do the next revision.
