Hi Java-Friends,

i have got a question regarding packages in class diagramm:

I'm using Eclipse with modelling framework an it is possible to put classes in framed packages.
The classes are drawn inside the package frame. So, i can arrange my classes in the different tiers in the class diagramm.

package UI -> UI classes
package Business -> EJB, etc.

But is this appropriate for the class diagramm? Or schould i design my class diagramm without any packages?
I think the benefit is, that you can see the borders of the tiers very clearly.

What's your opinion?

Kind regards, Tim

Tim,
I am also going to submit my assignment solution. I am not using packages as i asked few more folks(who have passed the exam) and they also haven't put down the packages. The UML tool that i am using doesn't let me enter a new line for the text in UML-due to that my class diagrams were getting too cluttered...that's why i am not using the packages....i am directly using the classes.

I don't think it's advisable. You can show the demarcation/layering in the component diagram.

I have provided some extra diagrams to show the demarcation and boundaries.
