How many objects are garbage collected?

Hi all,

While solving problems regarding calculation of no of objects to be garbage collected,
should we consider the exception also,as they are also objects ??


I believe that only one object is garbage collected that is nfe and Integer object i
cannot be garbage collected as it may exist even after returning...

But the answer is given as none of the objects were garbage collected...
Can someone explain this...

nfe would still be pointing to the Exception object. So that will not be eligible for GC.

I mean after the method returns how many objects were garbage collected...
As the scope of the nfe variable is with in the catch block it self,
Why it cant be garbage collected??
