First: I hope there's no problem if we don't use Outlook - I can't use it because I don't have the magic numbers to give it. I use one of the free emails.

Second: Can we put anything else besides the code in our assignment emails? Or is it a "can but shouldn't" situation?

Thanks!

PS - waiting with bated breath for first instance of Abuse ...

Hi Jinny, a hearty welcome to JavaRanch pardner!

First: I hope there's no problem if we don't use Outlook - I can't use it because I don't have the magic numbers to give it. I use one of the free emails.

You can use any email program or system that you like. As long as it passes along your code in plain text and otherwise behaves well, you're all set. I use yahoo and it works fine. Funny spacing or other quirks usually get worked out through the first couple of assignments.

Second: Can we put anything else besides the code in our assignment emails? Or is it a "can but shouldn't" situation?

Along with your code you could send along your bank account number and login details, eh, actually, just the code please. A friendly hello is nice, of course, yet we encourage you to post questions for discussion here in the forum. That way anyone can chime in and everyone benefits from the exchange.

Dig in those spurs, enjoy the abuse, and have a good ride!

Pauline

Yep. You definitely do not have to use Outlook. In fact, I can only remember one student in all the years I've been doing this that has used Outlook. Like Pauline says, the important thing is that you can send your code in plain text.

Pauline & Marilyn -

Thanks!

Marilyn - Not sure that you could get to Peru, Indiana on my bank acct right now - but I will be sure to keep your suggestion in mind the next time I rob a bank!
