Original code, and
Goal: To merge the two pieces of code so I can use BorderLayout and other things. My main thing I want to do is to have JFrame frame = new JFrame(); and the rest of my main code together so I can do special things.

I'm relatively new to Java. I got referred to this website by two Java books, "Java for Dummies" and "Head first Java". I am about 2/3 done with Head first Java and am finished with Java for Dummies. The section I am at is talking about Layout Managers and such. I have tried this before, but I do not believe it is possible the way I have set up my code. I don't know how to have the code separated where I can do the things I want to do. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If you need more clarification, I will give it to you. PS: I have not gotten to the TCP/IP chapter so I don't know how to do the Buffeted Server stuff. Please just help me on stringing together the code.
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
