write a List/map to a binary file

i am trying to write a list and a map to a binary file. Problem is i should in a format. Binary file has a header body and trailer ... so, my question is how to write data into specific location. like if i want to write to header/trailer i should be able to do it. please, help

I must be missing something. Surely you just write the content sequentially.

1) write the header
2) write the list content
3) write the map content
4) write the trailer.

How one writes the list and map content depends on what the list and map contain and on the require format but you don't say what that is.
