your post is not providing any details of your application ... with the current information that you have provide its impossible to identify the issue...

Where are you running your web application? In your local machine?
Do you have proxy configured in IE?
Do you need to go via a proxy to access your application?
If you don't need a proxy to access your application and if you have proxy enabled in IE , are you bypassing the proxy for your application?

So clicking on a menu "new order" button creates a 404...
Is this your own custom menu?

Should clicking this button generate a request? To what url with what parameters?
I wouldn't imagine that a request from different browsers would be treated differently by the server (unless you explicitly code the server that way)
My guess would be that there is something wrong in the process of generating the request.

I would suggest installing an http monitoring tool like fiddler to see what request is being made to the server. Is the request from IE the same as the one from a browser that works with this link?

Is there javascript associated with clicking this button? Does that complete successfully?

yes it is my own custom menu.. yes on clinking the menu generate the request. but the problem is that even my log file is not showing any error. and i did not configure my application according to any specific browser. it runs perfect on all other browsers. only ie8 is giving this problem and even after getting the 404 error if i again press the same button then ie8 will redirect me to the correct jsp page so not getting the exact problem. i am really fed up with ie8 buddy.

when i request it first time it shows that it cant find the jsp page and again clicking the same option it runs fine....... and yes the java script is also running jst fine. i gave alerts to it and they execute it perfectly.

Hi friends i came to know about the error but not getting the solution.

The error is like when i call my jsp page it gives me login page which is correct and then when i gave the correct input it goes for the
j_sequerity_check then suddenly it automatically redirect me to error page in-spite the process was correct this problem i am facing only in ie8. every other browser working perfect. so what to do for this....???

http://localhost:8084/Dashweb/SecureJSP/none this is the url it is giving me...
