Location aware applications ?!!! I did not know that such a term existed until i saw a book by the same name in the promotion section. How will this affect the common person's/mobile device user's life and to what extent ? Why should we be aware of this ?

Location aware self replicating robot armies. You may laugh at it now, but just wait a few years.

On a more serious note, I have a shopping list mobile app that I use to help remind me of what I need to buy and where.

A "magic gesture" made with the phone fires off a location sensing operation that is then used to pull up the list for the location (shop) nearest where I am standing.

That is a nice application. But i guess its better to do it the "old-fashioned" way - use and sharpen memory (and to keep memory healthy - eat healthy & exercise).
I guess GPS is a better application of such a thing, but only when you venture into a new place. IMO, its better not to depend on GPS for places in ones home city. Instead, use memory once you become familiar with a city. IMHO, one must use such tech only when its absolutely necessary, otherwise ones natural senses lay unused and become dull with time.

So, they will know where they are.
