I started working with App Inventor to create an application that has several buttons, whereby the choice of each button sends a pre determined text file that contains ascii text to configure the device it is sent to, via ip and port configured by the user. The problem is that AI doesn't seem to support networking/tcp stacks, or whatever the terminology would be for me to send the file to an IP. Because of this, I am now trying to program in Eclipse.

I am getting more and more familiar with Eclipse every day, but I seem to be missing something, and am here to ask for help. Could someone nudge me in a direction that allows me to find out how to tie the creation of a button that sends a file to an ip address? I think that I just need to create a client for my phone's app that sends the file in question. I don't need to read anything back from the device that I am sending the data to until I further understand how to just send a file to the ip. I have included a sample of my gui. Please note that the bottom 4 button are for when I feel comfortable with what I've created to be able to modify the application where I can send a file to the ip address and query the device and see the response in the text box. The text box is not needed for sending the file.

And because I cannot find an application in the market place that works similar to hypterterminal, where it can send a file to an ip address, I feel that I have to make one.

If anyone can provide assistance in nudging me in the right direction, I would be gratefully appreciative.

User configures ip
User configures port
User presses one of 4 buttons
Button press sends specific file located on SD card to user configured ip and port
Device that received the file is now configured per file that was located on the phone... move on to next embedded device to be configured by phone.
