May it be possible to get Spring Container remote calls / load balancing without servlet at middle?

Hi guys... my question may be simple. I do it as I'm Spring starter...

What I need to do is load balancing between my View, and the code that I need to call, in a EJB-like fashion way, but with DI XML capabilites (As in Spring). Basically I need to call a remote pool, for to obtain a reference to a remote object, while that distributed pool is into another node at the network, otherwise, behind a load balancer.

Questions are:

a) Is it suitable to do remote calls to Spring POJO's through any non-servlet intermediate interface (As with EJB)?
b) Is it available a built-in Spring Container load balancing strategy, or, may it be another available to being integrated with?
c) What's the common way for to achieve load balancing using a RMI-like strategy (no web service approach) with Spring Container?

Thanks a lot for your support.
