Hi all,

I have some questions about this web site. Here they are.

1. I knew this site as JavaRanch. Now this is CodeRanch. Why is that?

2. How to add "Friends" or "Contacts" in this site?

3. Why this site is named as "Big Moose Saloon" ?

4. I was a GreenHorn when I was joining, but now I am a Ranch Hand. I think this is some kind of rating system depends on number of posts. If it is, how many number of posts required for each level?

5. Moderators has informed me several times about several rules regarding to this site, but when I was joining the agreement I had to agree was "Please be nice". So, where are these rules listed?

6. How many number of users in JavaRanch?

7. Does JavaRanch has free tutorials about NetBeans?

8. I can see something like "Black belt" in some users signature. I googled for that, and I found something like "BlackBelt Factory". What is this?

9. What is the meaning of the logo of this site?

That's all for now. I am expecting answers from Moderators or Administrators. Thanks....

1. Because it's about more than Java these days -- look at the list of forums.

2. We don't have those features.

3. Why are you named as Yohan Weerasinghe?

4. https://coderanch.com/how-to/java/SaloonTitles

5. "Be Nice" is the number one rule; there are a few other ones like our policy on display names. But mostly, we just have to help people understand what "Be Nice" actually means: it includes respecting the rights of others, and that's often overlooked.

6. Look at the bottom of the front page of the saloon for an up-to-the-minute count.

7. Nope.

8. See here.

9. It's a dusty, forlorn hunting trophy, such as you might see hanging on the wall of a saloon in the American Old West. Or something like that.

Thanks for the info. The black belt factory stuff is really interesting. Before I go to that site, I need a bit more clearance. In black belt factory, what I have to do? Do I have to face exams? answer questions?
