I am kind of new at this certification thing. I live in Japan and my friend suggested that I take the Information Technology Passport Examination sponsored by the Information-Technology Promotion Agency. Apparently in Japan it is a pretty standard well-known exam for certification of basic knowledge. I am just wondering how well that test is known in America. If I pass a test in Japan and then travel to the U.S. and tell people that I passed this exam, and no one in the U.S. has heard of it, it is kind of a waste of time and money to take the exam, don't you think? How well known and recognized is this test in the U.S.?
