I understand that objects the application creates are cleaned up by the garbage collector. But should the objects be closed by the application code to keep the garbage collection at a minimal. In other words, say I have a class that does a remote database lookup and creates an array. From a servlet I create an object of the class and make a call to one of its methods. Should I somehow close the instance of the class I just associated with my object?
