I have a very specific best practice question on JSF. This is quite urgent so I am hoping someone could answer the question.

Since JSF 2.0 allows componentized the page, I wonder if I could have multiple components on the same page invoke its own controller simultaneously during the PAGE LOAD. I understand that we could have different controllers for different actions on the same page(not during page load) but what about during page load. We have situation where a page could have multiple components where each component will take care of their own backend invocation to prepare data for the section of the component.

If not is there any alternative way? I am hoping the alternative is not AJAX implementation.

Another way of doing it maybe is by creating JSF custom components which each component will trigger a servlet. So if we have 5 custom components then there will be 5 simultaneously calls to 5 controllers. I am just speculating but I am not sure if this will work yet.

Tell me how it all turns out. Here is a tiny ad:
