Does "Agile Hiring" succeed remotely?

Hi Sean,
Looking forward to reading your book. We are an agile development firm working in a completely distruted environment. Our methods, which I have dubbed "nimble hiring" sound like they wouldmeld well with your system. Do you find that your process works in a remote, distributed, global environment?

Hi Stu,

Certainly my book will help you hire better for your distributed workforce. You just need to figure out what a great remote worker looks like and apply the concepts. My book isn't much about process. I define a process that works for many, but my goal there is to have a context within which to talk about the harder and more important stuff related to the candidate. The global part of your challenge is addressed in some ways in the book. I don't focus on it specifically, but I think there are some good subtexts that will give you ideas.

The process does involve interviewing in person. As do almost all interview processes. Even if the person works remotely, I think it is important to not just interview over the phone.

Hi Stu, Were you meaning hiring people you've never seen? Generally that's risky. There are cases where the candidate has sufficient reputation, or you have a history with the candidate, and don't need to perform a full interview. That's not common.
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
