It should come as no surprise to anyone here that I like to cook.

And being that I live in Austin, where outdoor grilling season begins on Jan 1 and ends on Dec 31, I spend a lot of time cooking outdoors.

I've had a trusty Ducane gas grill that's served me well for almost a decade now, but it's given up its final ghost and it has been retired.

I just took delivery of my latest toy this morning:

More versatile than my gas grill, I'll not only be able to grill on it, but it's also a smoker and a ceramic oven. Yes, that means firing pizza at 800ºF (that's 423ºC for those using reasonable units of measure). And naan -- I do love naan.

Inaugural usage will commence this weekend with prime rib-eyes and baked potatoes.

And yes, I need to stain and seal the table.

Nice! Have fun with it. Seeing the title I thought of something android-ish. But certainly there is an app to control it ;-).

In Stockholm there were 5 consecutive days of +10° C (~50° F). That's meteorologically summer there. Oh, in the next days it probably will snow.

I have a trusty Ducane grill. But I can remember the joy of a good hot charcoal fire.

Here in DC, we have 10 months of grilling season if you are hard core. Perhaps more like 7 months for the less dedicated.

So you become a marshal and you get an egg :-)

They are a great cooker, have fun with it.

And of course deep regards with respect to the passing of the old Ducane (great grill).

I have nothing bad to say about my Ducane -- it was a great grill. I just wish it had stuck around longer. But I used the &^%$ out of it while it was around so I have no cause for complaint.

I'll ping ya when I throw the steaks on. That'll give you about seven minutes head start.

Broke in the new Egg last night with burgers (they were yummy!)

Tonight, strip steaks!

Vegans look away!
