Close a pop-window after submit is complete?

I would like to do is close the pop-up window when my submit
code has completed successfully.

ok in javascript i will call the fuction,which wil close the window on submit button action,but i also need to insert the data into database using the sql quries...but we cant write the insert code in thar javascript function.

No, you need to do that in the Servlet code that processes the request you sent to the server.

you just redirect your servlet to a page with some javascript that closes the popup on load.
