Hey there,
Surroundings: Windows Server 2003 x64, Tomcat 6.0.29, JVM Version 1.6.0_22-b04

I am new to Tomcat and do have to migrate a Tomcat 6.0.x Server to Tomcat 7.
There is nothing special to the Tomcat 6 installation except https is activated (in server.xml and a keystore).

Has anyone migrated such a surrounding yet?

What I would try:

- Copy all of the tomcat folders (for backup)
- install Tomcat 7 installer (windows) without uninstalling tomcat 6
- re-override the server.xml

-> Does this way work?

Cheers

Phil

Hi,

It should work,
Tomcat 6 and 7 configs (server.xml) are pretty much same.
You can experience some issues if custom cert has been imported
to java cacerts, but assuming you're going to use exactly same
java installation with your tomcat 7... everything should be fine.

good luck!

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
