Which object is getSelection() calling? I mean, where do I find the documentation?

In the code

it's calling the getSelection() method of the object referred to by the variable "group". You should be able to find a declaration of a variable named "group" in that code.

oh right, a ButtonGroup.
 
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
