Hello fellows,
I have been a silent observant of JavaRanch community since quite a few weeks now, especially Job Discussion forum as I am on one of the crucial stage of my IT career now. Initially I reached here through Google search and then I found lots of useful information here and very helping and kind people.
Anyway so this is my very first post here and I hope this is just the beginning of my long association with CodeRanch community.
Before presenting my question, I would like to give you some info about my background. I am originally from India and I have completed my Master in Technology in IT (MTech-IT) with web and software development specialization from one of the leading Universities in Australia. I have finished my degree with distinction average, and I have also completed 3 months internship with a small IT agency, which was part of course. I finished my degree in December and got my graduation in March and I am still in Australia and planning to return back to India anytime during next month. My main specialization was Core
Java and
J2EE (EJB, Sturt, RMI, Hibernate, ORM,
JDBC) during my Master.
Before returning back to India, I have tried to apply for many jobs in India from here itself and also contacted people in my network working in IT in India for the job. But over the time I realized that it is very difficult to even secure an interview without physically being present there. But anyway now I can say that I am almost on my way to return back.
So here goes my question >> After returning back to India, I want to find and start a job as soon as possible and I don't want to waste any time as I have already wasted couple of months after graduation here and hence I am in no position to waste any more time, which can hurt my career in future. So what is the best strategy that you can advice to secure and find a job as soon as possible in India and start working soon. I know most of the big companies do their major hiring of freshers "On Campus" in India. So in this situation, what should be the strategy of any foreign university fresh graduate who wants to enter into Indian workforce. Do you reckon soon after lending there I should approach as many consultants as possible? or do you reckon I should keep my eye on all the walkins and attend as many of them as possible? And what do you think about approaching companies and HR department of the same directly?
I have lived in India at many different places, before I came here. So it doesn't matter to me much in which city I am living as long as I am doing a job that I love doing (which is basically programming). So I am ready to move anywhere for job. In this case, do you think that I should travel around all major cities and IT hubs and explore all possible avenues to get into workforce or I should stick to a one single big city like Mumbai or Bangalore or Pune or Hyderabad and keep trying hard in the same city till I get a job?

I will really appreciate your advice and input and I am sure it will be also helpful to many other foreign graduates who are returning back to India after completing their studies. And thanks for taking time to read my quite a long post.
