Hello!

Currently, it is still possible to take OCWCD J2EE5 exam (310-083).
However, i wonder how much time remains for taking:
I will start soon to prepare for it so it would be a pity whether Oracle shut down the test.
Do you know?

(i prefer to take the OCWCD 5 rather 6 because it seems that there is no study guide for the 6 version...)

Thanks for your time!

I don't think it's much more different from the OCWCD 5. If you have a book for OCWCD/SCWCD 5 then enough practice with the specifications covered in the new exams (along with with the new topics if any) would do the trick. Besides it's good to go for the latest version of the certification since that will be supported for a longer time.

One way to bridge the gap between the ver-5 books and ver-6 exam could be by reading new API. Are there any other things (books/websites/notes) one must read to reduce this gap ?

There are few changes mainly in Servlets 3.0 and a bit in EL.

You're right, there aren't many study materials so you're basically left with the specifications.

I can say after Vijitha, that in my opinion, it's best to pursue the newest version of the certification.

Thanks for your answers ;)

Yeah, it may be better to take the last version.

But is there a way to know how much time it remains for the 5 version?

Unfortunately I don't have an idea :-(

You might write to Oracle but it will probably take 7 days until you get the answer which would be like 'check our website frequently for news' or something like that.

I found posting on Oracle Certification Blog much more convenient than writing an emails so you can try this as well.

Finally you can take a look at the history - how long did it take for SCWCD 5 exam to suppress the SCWCD 4 exam? (I don't know the answer for this question as well - sorry!)

Cheers!
