When are jsp compiled? When i read articles it says that when the request for the JSP comes in,it translates, compiles, loading, instantiation and initialization happens(if not already).

What i was wondering was there will be many JSP's in real time scenarios. So doing above will take some amount of time and the client will have to wait more.So is there a way(or which is preferrable), that we compile JSP when we are creating war file of the application.? Which is preferable?

Some containers let you precompile. I've never found it necessary.
